There are three different types of rocks today. Today, we're looking at igneous rocks. Now you might be thinking, why am I sitting in front of a volcano? That’s where igneous rocks are made. There are two types of igneous rocks. One is extrusive and the other is intrusive and as you can see, they both happen in a volcano. Intrusive igneous rocks are made inside the volcano, and it's made from magma that has been coaling really slowly underground. On the other hand, extrusive igneous rocks form outside of the volcano. Once the boiling hot magma erupts out of the volcano, it hits the cool air in the atmosphere. That is how extrusive igneous rocks are made because they cool really quickly. One type of igneous rock is granite. Who knows, you might have a piece of volcano inside your house.
