Horizon 600 - Fixing a Broken WIndlass - That Wasn't Broken!
S05 E87 - One day, our #windlass just stopped working. I could hear the solenoids clicking, but the windlass winch itself was not operating. As we are inland, I kind of fettled but didn't fix it, but with further sea journeys looming, it was time to get and fix it!
Initially it was a case of tracing the wiring from the source to the winch itself - a Simpson Lawrence Horizon 600, but overlooking the obvious can be costly on time!
So what did the problem turn out to be? A poorly installed winch with a factory bodge that shows that you can never take anything for granted!
