Garmin EchoMap - Old Transducer Install and Sea Trial
S05 E88 - When we initially installed the new Garmin EchoMap UHD 92 SV, @Garmin I was aware that we already had a Garmin #transducer fitted to the boat. Unfortunately this was an older 6-pin dual frequency transducer - but it is still supported. Although, ultimately, we are going to backwardly upgrade the entire nav system, just getting this to work would be a success.
And so, having spoken with those good folks @GarminProductSupport we ordered a small box that enabled us to convert our 6 pin plug to a 8 pin, then step up to the 15 pin current system!
And guess what? It works!
In addition, the NMEA0183 send to the Raymarine autopilot needed testing and so we pushed the boat through its paces. A full film of the adventure is coming soon, but this is just a small taster!
