For nearly two years the Guardian has embedded a small team of software engineers in the newsroom working daily with journalists. They will talk about the origins of the team, how they've collaborated widely across the editorial department and take a deeper dive into two projects: monitoring contract procurement by the UK government during the pandemic and investigating the obscure legal process of "Queen's Consent".
Michael and Joe will reflect on how developers and journalists can work effectively together to break open stories and build long term tooling to spread these capabilities as far as possible.
