Some of my first experience of panic attacks happened on the crowded train to College when I was 16, early in the morning. I didn't really know what it was, I just knew I felt like I needed to get off the train ASAP. My palms would sweat and stomach would churn and I would convince myself I needed the toilet and I was going to embarrass myself in front of the other passengers. I'd be convinced everyone was staring at me and would actively avoid sitting near people I knew in case I needed to get off the train unexpectedly. Public transport remains something I struggle with on and off to this day but I haven't had the scale of panic hit me like it did in my younger days. I have so many techniques for dealing with panic and anxiety now that MOST of the time I can manage and talk myself down from the peak. No more getting off the train at random stations and walking miles instead.
I hope this video helps 1 person come back from the brink of a panic attack and one day they become less frequent.
