Bubble Bath Ornaments: Fun & Easy for Christmas!
I have a really fun project that you can do with your little ones- bubble bar ornaments. Bubble bars are a solid form of bubble bath. With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve been wanting to do something with ornaments. They make beautiful ornaments for your tree, cute gifts, & a wonderful bubble bath for you to enjoy!
RECIPE: 1/2 cup (130 grams) baking soda, 1/2 cup (80 grams) sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (or sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium cocoyl isethionate), 1/8 cup (30 grams) cream of tartar, 1/8 cup starch (or arrowroot powder) + 30 milliliters fragrance oil, 15 milliliters liquid surfactant (bubble bath), 45 milliliters vegetable glycerin (or more liquid surfactant), 10 milliliters polysorbate 80.
Add wet to dry & mix ingredients together. Then knead dough with your hands until it forms a ball. Lay down parchment/wax paper. Dust rolling pin, dough, & paper. Roll out dough to desired thickness then cut out shapes. I recommend a thicker bar (it'll be more sturdy & less likely to break). Cure for 24 hours!
PAINTING: Add alcohol & mica to a cup, swirl around to mix. Whenever trying new techniques, start with the ugliest bar first, then work your way up! You can also paint designs in very light color, once satisfied, go back in with darker colors.
So this bubble bar really out-did itself! I used just a half of a bar & it filled my tub, bubbles went over the rim of the tub. Plus, the water turned a light blue which is always fun & also the bubbles themselves smelled amazing!! I used Caribbean teakwood, mahogany coconut, & a bit of birch + black pepper for fragrances. This made a "stylish" Christmas scent.
