Valve gives us quick access to the hardware packed inside of the Steam Deck and today I'm going to show you how to turn WiFi on and off in two quick steps.

So here we have some of the games I currently have installed, but this will work exactly the same if you're in the middle of playing a game as well.

We simply need to press the Quick Access Menu button, which is the hardware button with the three dots, or an ellipsis, or whatever you want to call it.
And this will bring up the Quick Settings menu.

Right off the bat, you should see the Wi-Fi toggle right here.
Most of the time you will likely want to keep this on.

Doing so will allow you to get SteamOS update notifications quicker, it will allow you to keep your installed games up to date, and being connected to your local network, or to your friends list, can be much more convenient for some people.

But if you're looking to squeeze as much battery life out of your Steam Deck as you can possibly get...
Or maybe you're about to go out in public and you just don't want it to be connecting to random public hotspots...

Then bring up this Quick Settings menu so you can toggle the Steam Deck WiFi off.

The process should take less than a few seconds and you can turn it back on just as quickly for those times when you need to be connected to the internet or your local network.

We actually have a fast way of accessing a number of hardware and Steam OS features from this menu here.
So if you haven't looked it over yet then it's something I highly recommend you do.
