Summary

If you're running the latest update to Fallout 4 on the Steam Deck, then you may have noticed that opening the game does not bring you to the launcher anymore.

This new update has preconfigured the game so it will run with settings that Bethesda believes is optimal for the Steam Deck.

But I know that there are going to be a large number of people who want to set things up themselves.

Maybe you want to set your own Antialiasing setting. . .
Or maybe you want to manually configure the texture. . .

Whatever the reason, we can actually bring back the launcher for Fallout 4 on the Steam Deck.
We do it by selecting the Gear icon on the right side of the game page.
And then scrolling through these options within the Properties tab.

Look for the Launch Options field and then bring up the keyboard by pressing the A button.

It's here, that we're going to type in the following. . .
SteamDeck=0 %command%

All of it needs to be entered correctly for this to work.

So let's press the B button a few times to back out of the Game Options window for Fallout 4.
And now when we launch the game, you can see that we're taken directly to the game's launcher window.

This is where you can customize these options so the game will play exactly like you want it to.

After you are done, we actually don't have to load up the launcher for Fallout 4 anymore.
Since everything we set will remain in place as long as a game update doesn't make any changes to the configuration file.

If you notice something, then load the launcher up again using this same method.
And changing it back to how you like it.

Then remove the SteamDeck=0 line again so you aren't forced to go through the launcher each time.

There are a number issues still being reported for Fallout 4 on the Steam Deck, and I would like to cover the workarounds for all of those issues.

I have a few of these videos that I have planned specifically for Fallout 4 on the Steam Deck, but if you're still having trouble with the game, then let me know about in the comments section below.

I realize that a new Proton update fixed a lot of the bugs that had been reported immediately after the big update was released.
So many of the widespread bugs should now be fixed.

But if you're looking for help with a certain issue, then use the comments section to let me know about it and I'll try ot help if I'm able to.
