The design principle of the house however is based on the relationship of void and fill. The excavated site is repurposed in order to create the ideal living conditions of a traditional family home in a non-traditional way. Eagle point is experimenting on the idea of one big single-family resident, being in peace with the surrounding topographical context. Its unique setting is utilized to the limit where common spaces are achieved for recreational shared areas.
The hidden nature of the building is inspired by the idea of illusions and delusions that are the main characters of every good desert journey experience. We created the project with the same passion and hope of finding an oasis in the desert and mixed it up with an architectural commentary.
As you enter the building, the grading difference that slopes downwards blurs the reality of desert and changes the setting into a more pleasing scenery. The individual no longer has access to the clues that give him/her the information about the whereabouts of the site and where it is in the world.
The project is composed of one main linear axis and two circular layers of membranes that are creating the hierarchy of spatial dialogues. Public to private relationships are established in a cellular grid where the center is the most public. This area includes programs like a pool, open-night movie lounge, sitting, dining and other social venue specific elements. As you reach to the more outer layers however it gets more and more private. The big social event halls leave their presence to smaller rooms and personal chambers of the owner’s.
Eagle house is an oasis in the form of architectural spaces and languages, a showroom for unique design pieces to communicate their special condition as a whole in a scenery but not individually.
