DVD Menu - The Relic (Paramount) (1997)
I have fond memories of this movie since I saw it in theaters in the 90s with my father. Sadly, though, this DVD is in 2.35:1 format, which, in my personal opinion, is the worst format for a movie to be released on. We can all agree that most modern televisions are 16x9. Having a film on physical media in 2.35:1 ensures you can't use your entire screen real estate, instead you're forced to watch a movie with black bars along the top and bottom. I understand it's considered cinematic, but it's not for me. I'd even accept 4x3 over 2.35:1! Also the quality of this DVD is not good. Colors are faded and washed out, and the over-all transfer is poor. If you pick this movie up, you should definitely pickup the Blu-Ray version.
