Meatless Mondays can help you lower your dementia risk.

According to a study presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International conference, eating more bacon, salami, hot dogs, bologna, sausage, leads to an increased dementia risk. The study looked at 130000 people over 43 years.

In this study, eating just a quarter-serving or more of any form of processed red meat per day had a 14% higher risk of developing dementia compared with those who ate less than 1/10 of a serving daily.

In a subset of patients, 17k, they also found that each extra serving of processed red meat eaten per day was tied to about 1.6 extra years of cognitive aging for "global cognition," which is how you talk and think and process information.

Another reason to cut out the bacon and sausage and to embrace your Meatless Monday instead.
