On October 18th, 2024, at approximately 9:26PM, officers with the Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit were conducting speed enforcement on the I-20 Expressway, when they observed a black Honda Civic travelling in excess of 90 mph in a 60 mph zone. After confirming the speed of the sedan, officers began to pursue it in an effort to conduct a traffic stop. The driver continued to recklessly drive down the expressway by speeding and making several erratic lane changes without utilizing a signal. Due to excessive speed of the vehicle and the recklessness of the driver, the Aviation Unit (also known as Phoenix), assisted officers on the ground by maintaining a visual of the vehicle. The Aviation Unit was able to track the vehicle to a Shell gas station at 387 Hill Street SE, where the driver eventually stopped the vehicle. The driver complied with the officer's commands to exit the vehicle and was placed into custody without further incident. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 27-year-old Quentin Jackson. After further investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Jackson was illegally in possession of a firearm. Mr. Jackson was charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Too Fast for Conditions, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Mr. Jackson was subsequently transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
