Final Jazz Experiment from my Names project which I did in fall of 2013. I think this has become my favorite Jazz Experiment (JEX) because it connects at a deep level whenever I give it room in my head. Unlike any other JEX, this one took less than a day to record, mix, and master. I recorded and re-used my own loops to give it the hypno-vibe that seems to be growing into my musical signature.
Goal: Compose a free-style instrumental to relax to when faced with loss. All tracks done in one take. Personally, I'm more than satisfied with the result - it's simple but effective from the 1st bar to me. What do you think?
Genre: Toxic Jazz or Smooth Jazz (sounds a little like Eumir Deodata meets Ableton Live perhaps)
Instruments: MV8800 stock
Lessons Learned: Discovered that I was able to build tension without having to think about doing it, it just came out naturally under the pressure of limiting myself to single-take recording. Don't think I would have achieved that had I not practiced on so many songs before it.
