Welcome to Crook County Outdoors. Today I am going to show you how to use your cell phone gps with no cell service for hunting. Watch until the end, where I will show you a couple key tips to make sure you can download maps and still use all of the features of your cell phone GPS.
The most common question I get when using my cell phone as a GPS is, "Can I use the GAIA GPS app with no service?" The answer is yes. When in Airplane mode, you still can use the GPS feature of your phone. The only problem is the maps will not be downloaded automatically based on your position as it would be if you had cell phone service.
As I covered in a previous video, the number one reason to choose one GPS over the other is Map selection. Now that we know we can use our cell phone gps without service, the next question is, "How do I download maps to use the GAIA GPS app with no cell phone service?"
