Solo Backpacking trip to Dusy Basin over Bishop Pass
This is a recap of my overnight hike into Dusy Basin. I started from South Lake in the Sabrina Basin and followed the Bishop Pass trail into Kings Canyon wilderness. The first lake near the trail was crowded so I hiked cross country for a few miles until I came to a lake closer to the Palisades, right below Isosceles peak. Beautiful lakes and great views of the toweing palisades.
I pulled a walk-up permit (best kind) from the Bishop ranger station the day before. Good thing too. I ran into a ranger coming up the opposite side of the pass from LeConte canyon and she asked for my permit.
Its about 5.5 miles from South Lake up to Bishop pass then from there it's up to you how much hiking you want to do to explore the Basin. There are several little lakes just below the pass then closer to the Palisades.
