I had a D-link DAP-1665 dual band access point that had an issue with all wireless clients loosing connection and the SSID disappearing. Only a reboot would fix it. I tried all the settings and various revisions of the firmware all to no avail. The SSID would disappear intermittently; sometimes after an hour, sometimes after a day or two. I suspected it was my TV crashing it but the device just dropped off the network overnight twice when there was nothing connected to it.
A google search revealed this seems to be a common issue with dlink routers and access points. There were various forum posts from users with exactly the same issue but no-one had found a solution. It seems that this is a bug in the firmware of several devices that Dlink never managed to fix.
Well I found a solution; this access point is a POS and so I destroy it by having it take a swim in Dr. Pepper and then blow it up with 30V @ 5A power supply. I was just going to bin it but why not have a bit of fun first?
