Plugging 48 volts into a 12 volt device. Same power connector, wrong voltage. Bang!
So many AC adaptors / wall warts use the same 5.5x2.1mm barrel jack but have varying voltages. Very easy to accidentally plug a 48V POE power supply into a 12V broadband router. What's the worst that could happen?
Bangs!, smoke!, burning smells!
I did this on purpose just for fun... I guess. Now my front room smells of burned electronics.
