Harrier GR5 Engine Diagnostic Computer (DRU) Teardown. Part of the GEC-Marconi ESD2020 system.
I have something rather interesting for teardown today. Here I have a Data Retrieval Unit which is part of the GEC-Marconi ESD2020 engine monitoring system for the Harrier GR5 fighter jet.
This is only part of the system and it's the unit used by the ground crews to download diagnostic information and fault logs as well as upload software updates. It connects to a LCD display and keyboard unit which unfortunately I do not have so in this video it will be a teardown only.
In a future video I will try and power this thing up and get some data out of the four serial ports found on the unit. Two of the ports are for connecting to the aircraft but the other two might show something interesting.
