Muted Tonallity
Thematically understated; monochromoatic video transforms to colour which is simplified to consist of a muted, unsaturated hues where the range of colour is limited. HDR video is capable of great saturation and strong contrast - but does it need that? During the second half of the video it slowly turns back to monochrome - inexorably but imperceptibly.
Similarly the music (which is the first section of Alana which I created some years ago and is based on Bach) uses muted tones. Only occasionally are higher overtones glittering above the pure subdued notes.
For me these come together to present the visual and musical landscape in a restful and complentative way; not saying what to think but leaving room for interpretation.
