This chassis combines agility and traction, with four GoBilda Yellow Jacket motors, four traction wheels, and two omni-wheels. The drop center design allows the outer wheels to be slightly higher, causing faster rotation speed and better maneuverability.
• Advantages of 6WD:
o Excellent traction and stability
o Good acceleration and high top speed
o Versatile for playing both offense and defense in FTC
• Considerations:
o Drop-center design can be tricky for beginners, but the GoBilda drop-center plate makes this process easy.
o Corner omni wheel designs offer good turning dynamics but sacrifice some traction, this design has omni wheels on one side, gaining the benefit of both.
• What is a Drop Center?
A drop center 6WD features a center wheel mounted lower than the outer wheels, ensuring only four wheels contact the ground while turning, minimizing friction for quicker turns.
This tutorial modifies the GoBilda BeeLine model to utilize a chain-driven system. Join me to get your FTC robot ready for this season!
