Railfanning #12 - CSX at Deshler, Ohio & NS at Elkhart, Ind. CP-421 - October 2018

In the episode, our first stop is Deshler, Ohio. This was actually only the second time I have made there this year. The first being in April.
Sine April the diamonds have been replaced with the new and popular Flange Bearing Diamonds. In this case it used in both directions. Because of that, the trains make very little noise going over the diamonds now. In the video you will hear a noise on EB trains, but it is a gap just to the west of the diamonds.
Our second stop is Elkhart, Indiana at CP-421. Which is right in front of the Amtrak station. Which is right across from the National NYC Railroad Museum. This was my first trip there in 20 years. Over the last year NS has rebuilt the interlocking, and redid the curve just the east of the station. The rebuild moved the mainline out away from the original station platform. This there-by made it possible to remove the diamond in the curve. Making it possible for more super elevation to be added, and therefore higher train speeds.
