HOW TO PAINT FIRE ✦ Fire Tutorial in Paint Tool SAI ✦ Digital Art Tutorial For Beginners
I'm working on a new series of tutorials and today you're going to learn how to paint fire for beginners, fully step by step! :) This fire tutorial shows my technique for painting fire in anime style using Paint Tool SAI. I'm also including footage of my tablet so you can see the hand movements I use while painting, which I think can be helpful to understand how to apply the technique better.
The most important thing to remember when drawing fire is the general shape that it has (especially if you're trying to paint a bonfire or campfire vs any other general fire or flame) and the colors.
When you're painting your flame, remember that the brightest area is the one that is closest to the source of the fire, not the top part or the edges. You want to create a gradient (but don't go overboard with the blur) from the brightest and hottest part (in the bottom center in the case of a bonfire) to the edges that will be more and more red the further away they are from the center.
You also want to add some embers floating around (I mistakenly call these sparks in the video, kinda need a dictionary!) and add enough glow to make your fire shine bright and warm :)
