How To Clean(Strain) Cooking Oil
Family, The house never burned down when I was growing up but I would never leave cooking oil on the stove in what mom called her "grease can".
That can was usually a Hills Brothers or Folgers House coffee can. That's where mom stored her used cooking oil.
Today, I strain the oil and place it back in the original container it came in like a Crisco bottle and I never keep it on the stove. I store it back in the pantry.
Mom was a fabulous cook without formal training and some of the wonderful things I saw her do in the kitchen I probably wouldn't attempt today.
But cleaning or straining oil is one thing I do right now. I do it because the oil is still good and to save money.
