I ran across the SMP (Skip Morris Panfish) fly almost 20 years ago ( • Tying The SMP - Dressed Irons ). After having wonderful success with the original I decided to tie a version for Smallmouth Bass. That version is in this video and it has been a wonderful fly over the years. It is simple, has lots of motion and just the right size to mimic the small shad we have in our local waters. A silver rib and eyes works as well but I think the Gold fishes just a little better. -- Enjoy
