Ouzo is a traditional Greek anise-flavored liqueur that is typically served as an aperitif. It is made by distilling alcohol with various herbs and spices, the most prominent of which is anise seed. Other ingredients that may be used include fennel, coriander, and other botanicals.Ouzo is typically around 40% alcohol by volume (ABV), similar to other liqueurs such as sambuca and pastis. It is typically served neat, but it can also be diluted with water. But what is the Ouzo effect? What is this "milky", cloudy form that ouzo takes when water is added? This is common to all anise-flavoured liqueurs and spirits, and in this video I am explaining what exactly is happening and why? Is it reversible? Also, why is considered a signature characteristic of the drink.
