Witness how can dietary antioxidants mediate oxidation stress in real time. Oxidative stress is a normal condition that happens when your antioxidant levels are low and is caused by propagation of free radicals or reactive oxygen species. Healthy foods, and especially colourful fruits and vegetables, are a great source of natural antioxidants and are ready to "throw themselves to battle" and neutralise those free radicals and help tackle cell oxidation and inflammation in our body. Here is a short laboratory demonstration of the concept of radical scavenging that shows how the DPPH radical (purple liquid) can be quenched by the food antioxidant (Trolox in our case) and result in stopping the radical from causing more damage. Keep eating those veggies to stay healthy!
