“Bye-Ya” is one of the many wonderful compositions by Thelonious Monk.

This tune has a 32 bar AABA form, but like most Monk compositions, it uses harmonic 'backcycles' and is really tricky to play.

It's funky, swinging, soulful, and yet still seems like it might sound great if it were played on the banjo.

As always, I record the vibraphone track FIRST, using a click - then I overdub the piano part after.

One take - no editing, no correcting.
