Foraging Apples Video
Did a bit apple foraging this week, we collected a couple of small bags of apples from a local wood. They are delicious :-)
Foraging for apples is legal in the UK as long as it's for personal use (and be reasonable, don't take everything wildlife needs food as well).
Relevant law : The Theft Act 1968, for England and Wales, states that: "A person who picks mushrooms growing wild on any land, or who picks flowers, fruit or foliage from a plant growing wild on any land, does not (although not in possession of the land) steal what he picks, unless he does it for reward or for sale or other commercial purpose."
We picked about 80 apples that should last us until about Christmas. We've done this before and some varieties store well in the fridge for a couple of months.
Interestingly the wood in question is rarely visited and based on the number of apples that fall and rot on the ground we might be the only ones foraging apples there.
