Slow Pitch Jigging for Halibut, Rock Fish and Salmon in Alaska! We Limited Out!!
This was the second of two charters we booked on a trip to Alaska to celebrate my dad aka 'Big Rick' for his 80th birthday. The first trip was an inshore river trip chasing king salmon. Unbelievable! Check out our gallery to see that video. On this trip we hopped on the Perseverance out of Seward Alaska to try our hand at Halibut and Rockfish. My slow pitch rods made the long trip to Alaska just for this trip. Fishing for halibut and rock fish is very similar to bottom fishing, so I felt the SPJ would crush it. However, when I arrived to the boat, let's just say the crew wasn't convinced. In fact, I explicitly remember being told, "That will never work here." I love a challenge!
