The Pompano Beach Saltwater Showdown takes place every summer in August. It's the last leg and final opportunity for teams to post a winning catch and emerge as champions in the most competitive meatfish series in Florida, if not the country. On tournament day, we jumped on board with Captain Alex Burgess, two time champion of the series. Fishing on board his old school Mercury powered 29' SeaVee, his team claimed the champions' rings in 2023 and were in contention to do it again in 2024.
