It's #SeaOtterAwarenessWeek. Enjoy this otterly adorable video of a sea otter munchin' and crunchin' on some food.
We think you otter know: Although decades of conservation efforts have helped the species rebound, sea otters are still far from recovered. So while we defend their Endangered Species Act protection, the Center is also working to get these charismatic critters reintroduced to California and Oregon, where the fur trade almost wiped them out in the 20th century.
#FunFacts: Sea otters often have a favorite rock for cracking open shellfish and clams. They may keep this rock in a “pocket” created by folds of loose skin across their chests making a pouch under each forearm.
