The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is a natural wonder and a biodiversity hotspot.
It’s home to at least 50 species of mammals, dozens of reptile species, and 37 species of amphibians — the most vulnerable wildlife class. It’s also a vital resting place for migrating birds.
Now it’s under threat from a proposed mine.
Act now by signing the Center for Biological Diversity's petition to save the Okefenokee.
When President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, he reserved enough water for it to serve as a breeding ground and refuge for a wide array of birds and other wildlife.
Now the Twin Pines titanium mine threatens to pump 1.4 million gallons of water a day out of the Okefenokee. We won’t let it drain the world's largest intact freshwater ecosystem.
But we need you with us. These waters belong to all of us. Join the fight to save the Okefenokee.
