"365 days ago, exactly a year from today, we began what would be the journey of a lifetime." 10+ countries, four months, 114 days living in Europe post-covid high school graduation.
Out of everything that I experienced yes which I'd considered new, it began with the departure. Just after a summer of deep friendships post-graduation, it was then where I found my stomach to the floor and my eyes fill with emotion more and more within each goodbye. Leaving the comfort of a forever-home into a world of brick and history is something that changes someone. And when you're home, by the end of it, you see how those changes creep up and make themselves a home after a time.
Standing in the airport about to leave home, a tugging feeling pulled at the center of my chest. Felt like my mom trying to say goodbye, & good luck. It was then when I realized this time would bring the three of us all rollercoasters of emotion. That by the end of it, the tightly-knit moments day after day, ticking like a clock to make our personalities brotherly. These are my brothers. This is our journey. 114 days, with the first ones in London, England.
Gwen was a familiar face from school. My brain's first marvels at foreign architecture. Discovering the fuss about the adult night life. England's version of home's coyotes. Absorbing the historical facts of London's walls, in the neighborhood of Waterloo.
All of these moments to documents to forever be held true."
