The haiku above is from is very famous, I don't know what it means (yet) but thought it was a cool intro.

Revisted Ghost in anticipation of Assassin's Creed Shadows releasing in week. Undoubtedly the games will be compared and I wanted to have clarity not rose tinted nostalgia when I do.

Ghost is just fun all around, I wouldn't say it's the hardest game, and when it comes to stealth it definitely feels like dated but visually and atmospherically it's perfect. Everything you enjoy about samurai media is found here from the standoffs to the duels.

Playing on new game plus, on lethal difficulty with a maxed out katana was a lot of fun. Especially coupled with the Sakai or Rōnin armour which boosts damage. There's no need to play on the defensive after that as you cut through everything like butter. I still have a lot of favour for the Kensei armour for the look and the boosts it provides for ghost weapons.

The new game plus perks are great too like heavenly strike with the lightening is chefs kiss*. Having dogs attack for you, way of the flame lasting longer and spreading is *ahem fire. With the Ultima katana too just a good experience.

I think ghost did have good will from their being in a gap in the market since AC never did Japan and as it succeeded expectations are high for shadows. This has been coming for a long time and I remember in school talking to friends about what a Japanese assassins creed would be like. This one goes deep for me [ https://x.com/danielrayblog/status/19... ] as AC has been wobbly in past years I found myself on the fence about shadows and realised if my past self could see me now they'd be disappointed. I have to do it off the strength.

I've even been reading up on Japanese history to fully immerse myself, The Shortest History of Japan by Lesley Downer has helped me get up to speed. To better understand the Muromachi and Sengoku period. The effects of Portuguese and Catholics in Japan as well as how the Shogunate interacted with the Imperial Court. I wonder what historical figures we may encounter also such as Nobunaga, Hideyoshi & Ieyasu.

This moment in time also feels like a community as elsewhere online there is a lot of excitement for Shadows, and other will be giving reviews and sharing tips when it does come out, reminds me of how I felt when Jedi Survivor was about to come out.

Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe and hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
