Finally got a chance to jump into Spider-Man 2. I was a big fan of Miles Morales and is a game that has never moved off my ps5 dashboard. I jump just to swing around the city for a bit it’s so satisfying • Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Kings of Neon
However I was really excited to play Spider-Man 2 cause of the black venom symbiotic suit. It reminds me of watching Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 when he donned the black suit. A lot of memorable scenes and memes from that. I think Sony has done well with Tom Hardy’s venom and merging it with MCU Tom Holland Spider-Man should be an interesting take. Andrew Garfield never got the chance for this but think it is alluded to in no way home when talks about being in a rage and stopping holding back his punches if amazing Spider-Man 3 ever happens could be a good plot point. I think Spider-Man films are very binge-able and make for good Christmas time films.
I played on spectacular difficult as ultimate difficulty only becomes unlocked after completing the game. Spoiler alert: but you on out get the black suit for act 2 of the game which made recording interesting as I didn’t have everything unlocked. I think it lends it self to a replay on new game plus as I think a second version of this video could look very different. Overall loved the game very little it does wrong especially if you loved either of the games and true comics that came before, personally however I think act 3 rushed to a climax but it’s a minor gripe. Also I’m not a big fan of the MJ sequences.
Miles was also MVP in this game, he really stood on business when push came to shove. I was very interesting why his electricity powers went from orange to blue but the story does a good job of explaining this. The game makes so many improvements on the previous ones with the addition of web lines, web wings, slingshots, performance mode with ray tracing and even the way they have done fast travel.
The set pieces are also a major highlight, the sandman intro is a spectacle. I also enjoyed the lizard chase a lot too. The boss battles actually got quite challenging towards the end of the game required some concentration.
The Game Awards (TGA) didn’t give Spider-Man any awards which caused some discussion but while I think it a fantastic game it had a tough job and trying to improve on already fantastic foundation. It also makes me think how this compares with Arkham’s legacy. Overall think this is a game I will keep playing as I still want to do a Miles Morales video.
In conclusion, this is one of my favourites this year along with Jedi Survivor. I still really want to play Final Fantasy 16. Great game that really made me feel like Spider-Man.
