Low Profile Road Tires
The 4" knobby tires that came with the bike are no doubt impressive, but didn't serve a need for me. I wanted something that would have less road friction and in return be able to go faster. Unfortunately they don't make 4" road tires (yet), so I used the same concept that is done on cars to fit a narrower tire on a wider rim.
I installed the 3" Duro road tires that I've stretched over a 3.5" rim. The end result is that the tires are lower in profile which makes the e-bike now sit an inch lower. The e-bike is big enough as it is; the lower profile makes it easier for you to get on and at the same time the slickness of the tire will make it perform better and faster on roads.
I had to also change out the inner tube to 3" as well so that the tire bead sits properly in the rim. Lastly, I added FlatOut so that it could seal punctures if any should occur.
This was a true project that took a lot of patience. Bike shops will not install these for you, so if you want to try, you will need to do it at your own risk. I highly recommend though to get the rear wheel removed by an e-bike shop so that you don't ruin the fork in the process.
I've been happy with my rides thus far and have seen a nice improvement from the new tire setup.
