When you visit the Amalfi coast in Italy, you just have to make your way to the island of Capri. Capri offers some of the nicest views, clear and colorful waters, and pretty cool excursions.
To get to the island, you can catch a ferry from several ports from the main land. I took the ferry from Salerno which then stopped at other towns along the Amalfi coast such as: Minori, Amalfi, Positano, and then Capri. This was a nice way to see all these beautiful towns. But I liked Capri the most. So much so that I went back and spent one entire day there to take it all in.
If you want to take a trip around the island, there are several vendors on the main road from where you disembark. But, I decided to avoid them as they can be expensive and make you packed in with other groups. You can find vendors that offer personal tours, but they are even more expensive. Instead, look for local folk just trying to make a living with their personal boats. I found an older gentleman that was willing to take me around the island as a personal experience rather than with some group of strangers. He also allowed for extra time to spend swimming in the waters as he wasn't on a set schedule like other vendors.
This was one of the best experiences by far in Italy.
