Field of Glory Empires. Rome. Episode 1. I Get Dogpiled By My Neighbours Immediately. Experienced.
A first look at Field of Glory Empires. I take the iconic Romans out for a spin on a fairly low difficulty level expecting a walk in the park where I'll have lots of time to build up and get familiar with the mechanics.
What follows is a series of nightmarish wars that culminate in me marching up and down the length and breadth of infantry bleeding casualties all the way. That seems about right!

That said I still sleepwalked my way into control of most of Italy, so perhaps a rise in the difficulty level is due. I also never felt threatened enough to break out the Field of Glory II battle mechanic which would allow me to go and sort things out personally instead of trusting to dice rolls. The Romans are pretty overpowered and while their units are expensive, they chew through just about anything once you have enough of them. They don't do so well in mountains but hey, that's what cannon fodd- I mean allies are for!
