2023 was a turbulent year for carbon markets, with overall confidence taking a hit. Negotiations on Article 6 were not able to conclude at COP-28. At the same time, global initiatives like ICVCM and VCMI launched frameworks around supply and demand quality benchmarks, and standards rolled out new and improved methodologies. December 2023 saw the largest ever volume of carbon credits retired, a pleasant surprise to close an otherwise rough year for carbon markets. What can we expect in 2024 and beyond?
This panel will bring together global industry leaders and standards to opine on the outlook for the voluntary carbon markets and compliance markets in the near and long-term.
