Dealing with Decarbonisation: There is No Business As Usual | GenZero Climate Summit 2024 | 16 April
Reports from IPCC and UNFCCC last year reminded the world that business as usual will result in a temperature rise of more than 2°C. And that result is almost guaranteed to be catastrophic with extreme weather conditions and rising sea levels.
Mobilising businesses to increase their ambitions and accelerate milestones in their net zero journey will be critical to unlocking impact at scale. Businesses will require a systems-level transformation to adapt their corporate strategies to decarbonise operations. To address near-term emissions that cannot be abated with current technologies, they will need high-integrity carbon credits and clear guardrails to ensure the legitimacy of their use of carbon credits.
The panel discussion, titled 'Dealing with Decarbonisation: There is No Business As Usual,' delved into how businesses can develop strategies for climate resilience and readiness, and how to ensure integrity and quality in their decarbonisation plan.
The panel was led by:

• Mark Kenber, Executive Director, Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI)
• Chris Leeds, Board Member, Integrity Council for Voluntary Carbon Markets (ICVCM)
• Catherine McKenna, Founder and CEO, Climate and Nature Solutions
