YouTube Is Not Zero Sum - CPG Rant
YouTube is not a zero sum game. Unlike many other content creation platforms, where one good piece of content might take an important spot away from a creator, YouTube benefits when more creators are able to build communities of like minded people to consume all their content.
You also don't necessarily lose out even when a larger creator works in the same space you're in: your content has the chance to be recommended to other viewers of these larger creators, building up the total size of your audience in ways that can help you both short-and-long term.
Your goal to grow as a YouTube creator has to be to get your content in front of new eyeballs. The best way to do that is via recommendations and suggestions from other people's YouTube content -- especially if they're more popular than you (and therefore have larger audiences!)
So whether it's a raid, or whether it's just a recommendation; whether it's a suggested video or a collab, YouTube isn't a zero sum game -- and you shouldn't try to treat it that way.
