ZUTOMAYO - NEKO RESET MV ANALYSIS
Neko Reset is a video released on December 2, 2021, a product of the collaboration between a job search engine company named INDEED (Japan Branch), and the band ZUTOMAYO, through the contest called "I wish I could work at midnight all the time", in which multiple animation artists are asked to submit designs of Niras and Greys representing INDEED's "Midnight Jobs". Under the creation of this video is an audiovisual production company, called YURUPPE.INC, which are closely related to the fields of advertising, cinematography, photography, design, animation and so on. Which makes this video which we are going to talk about, the first MV of Zutomayo to be produced by a company, unlike the rest of Zutomayo's videos, which were made by a single animator and his associates.
In this video we will analyze the context in which this video was created, and of course, we will also talk about its lyrics, which are almost totally related to what is seen in the video. We will also talk about the secrets behind this music video, such as texts, curiosities, references and so on.
The lyrics of the song are about a melancholy about a romantic relationship from the past, which ended long ago. The protagonist wants to move on, but her nostalgia and envy for this person make her falter. But she refuses to give in to this melancholy, and wishes instead to "Reset" her life, to better herself and her personality.As much as she wants to "Reset" her life the other way, she wants to end the daily routine of life after being with her ex-partner, to let go of the past.

Neko Reset is about the journalist Nira, who is investigating a conspiracy about a "bomber" called "Neko Resetter", which plans to destroy the city in which she lives, which is represented in the video as a very lively city, characterized by its everyday city life and its futuristic, synthwave and very lively appearance due to its people. These inhabitants are multiple Niras and Greys, designed by 10 different animators chosen by ZUTOMAYO and INDEED. Each of them represent different "midnight jobs", and some of them are related in some subtle way to the Neko Resetter, whose identity and purpose are a mystery.
One day, Nira journalist does a live broadcast, as usual, talking to her large audience about her research on the Neko Resetter. As she steps out onto the street, and heads to a convenience store, the store receptionist Nira stops her to give her a mysterious marked map, along with a time bomb logo in the shape of a cat. Nira the journalist, as she manages to make her way to the indicated location, for some strange reason, is in many ways facilitated in her journey to the location, thanks to the convenient arrival of Grey the cab driver.
What is the identity of the Neko Resetter? Will Nira journalist be able to solve this mystery and save the city? What is the "Cat Reset" all about?
