ZUTOMAYO - STUDY ME ANALYSIS
Study Me, music video released on May 14, 2020 (Same date as the movie release of "Sharknoid: Same Haze Haseru Haterumade"). Animated by Hanabushi, known for his multiple OC's and quite colorful, aesthetic and Japanese art. Before this music video was released, people who knew Zutomayo, only knew them for their songs and ACAね's magnificent and peculiar voice. There was even a very small group of people who knew certain peculiar and strange characteristics about the band and ACAね. Such eccentricities later moved on to music videos, when the MV of Study Me was released. That's when many people realized that Zutomayo gives extra importance to their videos. Practically, people wanted to solve a mystery that, according to themselves, ACAね, through this song, urged them to solve "a certain mystery" that is in their songs, in order to "understand it".
Unfortunately this is not so. Yours truly, that is, me, also fell prey to this rumor. That is why in order to understand a music video, at least almost completely, it is necessary to understand the song. And it is when you take into account this guideline, when you realize that the video deals with a very complicated topic, such as unrequited love and how our obsessions can play a trick on us, with its subsequent depression and existential emptiness by getting excited about something so uncertain. Martyring ourselves for someone who doesn't care about us, who, unless they love us back, that's when we could be free to be happy. Study Me is a very entertaining and complex music video, even impressive for its animation and countless references to other Zutomayo music videos, and that is why Study Me deserves its own extended analysis and the appreciation of everyone who wants to get to know this great band.
