In this video, I walk you through how you truly, effectively conduct goal setting to drive the operational results that you seek as small business owners. It's not an easy process, which I why I think my clients respond so well to my assistance. But it's definitely doable. It's rare for most people, including business owners, to write down their goals. But it's critical to both short-term and long-term small business success to make sure that you align your personal goals with your business goals. You started, inherited or bought a business to serve you in some way. You must delineate what that is and what that means on a yearly basis.
If you've had your business for 15 years, your needs have likely changed. No problem. This video explains how you determine your personal goals then link them to your business goals. And how you gut check your business goals against your personal goals. For example, if you want to work 30 hours per week and take one month off every 3 months, a goal of growing your business 50% annually will not work....unless you also decide to bring on professional management or even an outside investor and cede a certain amount of control to them. But if your goal is also to retain 100% ownership and be the "boss", you can see where you need to revisit what's really important to you, in other words, do some soul searching, and decide what's truly important to you.
I then discuss how you push this goal setting to the next level - the department or key manager level - and why. In step #3, I briefly discuss how you tie your employees to company goals and the achievement of those goals.
