Finding Good People for Your Small Business
Here is an excerpt from the beginning of this transcript. If you want to actually read the post instead of watching the video, here's the link to The Resourceful CEO blog: https://theresourcefulceo.com/blog.
Today I want to talk to you about finding good people. This is something that I hear a lot about. Seriously. From small business owners, I hear a lot of, "I can't find good people". I've been hearing this for yours, not just recently. "I can't find good people." And I typically say that, if you can't find good people, you really don't know what you're looking for.
What does "good people" mean? What does it mean to you? What makes an employee a good person for that role? If you cannot explain what that means - and I'm not talking about a whole bunch of words. Although I truly believe in really defining this over the course of a page or a page and a half, but I strongly prefer bullet points. Just bullet points. Brief and succinct.
Ask yourself, "Strategically, how will the employee in this role contribute?" Then ask, "Task wise, how will that person contribute? And what's their overall role?" That kind of thing.
