Bad sector is a physical problem in the disk surface, here i do some steps to isolate partitions with bad sectors and start using other partitions with relative worry.
Gsmartcontrol indicates Raw value, it's the actual number of Uncorrectable, Reallocated or Pending sectors.
If you plan to use an old HDD with bad sectors (over 31136 like me!) make sure that the raw value of uncorrectable sectors stop rising completely after a long time, during this time the HDD should be working offline (from "offline uncorrectable" adjective), which means powered and connected with its interface plus no read/write operation passed to it, and all HDD power management deactivated, to get the Raw Value quickly without being interfered.
Keep in mind that nothing 100% sure about a HDD with defective platters.
Calculate the damaged size :
This hard drive has 31136 Offline Uncorrectable sectors, if one sector equals 512 bytes logical/physical therefore 31136*512=15941632 bytes divided by 1024^2 to get 15.203125 Megabytes.
for your information one sector is more than enough to cause data loss to whole hard drive ! if that sector serves to store partitions table (that's why Gparted warns you when it's about to create partition table)
