Automating Peace of Mind with Accessibility Testing & CI with Marcy Sutton
Did you know that accessibility test coverage and continuous integration (CI) go hand-in-hand? Automated tests can catch roughly 30-50% of accessibility issues with minimal effort, depending on your rule set. Running tests automatically with a CI server can also programmatically prevent accessibility regressions from making it to production–a huge benefit for high-risk deployments and large teams. We’ll look at open source tools and accessibility testing practices that can help your team develop a pragmatic and sustainable approach to software, benefiting many people with disabilities.
About our speaker
Marcy Sutton is a web developer on a mission to improve our world for people with disabilities–and to have fun while doing it. She is a Senior Front-End Engineer at Deque Systems (pronounced Dee-Cue), where she work's on the axe-core team focusing on accessibility test integration into web developer tooling. She's passionate about improving the web for people with disabilities and she often travels to speak about it. Her blog, Accessibility Wins, highlights accessible user interfaces and tools, contributing a positive voice to the web development space. For two years, she co-organized the Seattle chapter of Girl Develop It, a nonprofit encouraging women to learn about software.
