This version of Ko-uchi-gari is a pretty easy and low risk takedown for BJJ. Jiu-jitsu posture makes it difficult to apply hip throws and other close distance takedowns. The lower, wider stance replaces mobility with stability. The heavier and lower stance of BJJ enables the practitioner to easily pull guard or level change for single or double leg takedowns. This variation of Ko-uchi-gari actually takes advantage of the opponent's posture, wide stance, backward heaviness, and lack of mobility.
