Most of us hate salads. Why? Often, it’s because salad dressings suck. But, the vinaigrette reigns supreme in the world of salad dressings and, if you make you own, you can turn a salad from something you “need” to eat into something you crave.

In this video, we'll explore the basics of vinaigrettes, and a few ways you can get creative.

🥗 UNIVERSAL SALAD DRESSING RECIPE
Ingredients
Flavoured oil (e.g. sesame oil or extra virgin olive oil)
Acid (vinegar, citric acid, yogurt, etc)
Emulsifier (mustard, honey, egg yolk or tomato puree (paste, for the Americans))
Salt
Optional add-ons: fresh or dried herbs and spices, sources of cream (mayo, yogurt), sweeteners (sugar, artificial sweeteners, maple syrup, honey)

Method
Take something to mix the dressing in -- salad dressing mixer, bowl, etc.
Pour in 3 parts oil, 1 part acid, a small amount of emulsifier
Add a pinch of salt
Add additional, optional add-ons
Mix together (shake salad mixer, or whisk with a fork or whisk)
Taste with a salad leaf and season to taste
Use for salads or marinades.
