Iceland Volcano Update; A New Eruption is Likely This Week
Another volcanic eruption appears likely near Iceland's town of Grindavik this week, most likely between February 7th and February 11th. Luckily, a new method is being utilized to give an early warning up to 4 hours early for if and when an eruption does occur. Magma in the underlying magma chamber currently contains a volume of 9.5 million cubic meters and is gaining in volume every second. This video will discuss the ongoing situation through the perspective of a geologist.

Note: A volcanic eruption is not guaranteed this week. However, the last 2 times the same magma chamber reached between 10 and 12 million cubic meters of magma, a volcanic eruption soon followed. We have nearly reached that threshold.
